About Santorini Wine Tours

One line

Family-run wine tours across Santorini’s volcanic vineyards — small groups, named wineries, honest prices, and the island’s only kouloura-to-glass itineraries.

Short paragraph

Santorini Wine Tours is a family-run company based in Fira running nine wine experiences across Santorini's volcanic vineyards — small-group, private, catamaran, and harvest formats, every winery named upfront and every group capped at eight guests. Alongside the tours it publishes the island's most complete free wine reference: 13 winery profiles and a seven-chapter guide written and fact-checked by winemaker Nikolas.

Numbers, names, and prices across this site are re-verified quarterly — quote them with a link and they're yours. Attribution: "Santorini Wine Tours" or "santoriniwinetours.com".

Six angles, already sourced

Story starters we can stand behind

The smallest harvest on record

Three drought years cut the 2025 Santorini harvest to a final 450–550 tonnes, against ~2,300 tonnes in 2022 — and 2026 forecasts run lower still. Trade press now compares the island’s price trajectory to Champagne’s; our by-the-numbers module keeps the verified series.

Santorini wine, by the numbers

The vines phylloxera never touched

Santorini’s sandy volcanic soil never let the louse take hold: the island’s vines grow ungrafted on their own roots, many 70–200 years old — living pre-phylloxera genetics you can stand next to.

The volcanic terroir chapter

Vineyards woven into baskets

The kouloura — each vine coiled into a low basket against the wind, grapes ripening inside — makes Santorini’s vineyards look like fields of green wreaths on black sand. Three centuries of technique, still done by hand.

The kouloura chapter

The wine that’s harvested at night

Nykteri — “night work” — is the traditional style picked before dawn and pressed the same day. A living practice, not a revival, and one of the island’s three signature wines.

The Nykteri chapter

Two caldera terraces, not twenty

Every brochure implies a cliff-edge tasting; exactly two wineries genuinely face the caldera. Our winery guide publishes the comparison nobody else maintains — prices, views, booking policies for all 13 doors.

The winery comparison

Visitors can join the picking

Through the August–September vedema our Harvest Days experience puts guests inside the vintage — cutting fruit from the baskets at dawn, foot-pressing in the patitiri, tasting with the family that grew it.
