Fira, Santorini — a local family company

The family behind the tours

Santorini Wine Tours is a family-run company from Fira. We run small-group and private winery tours with every itinerary named upfront, because that's how we'd want to be sold to — and when guests want a sea day or a proposal done right, we recommend the two island companies we trust most: Sirigos Sailing and Santorini Proposals.

A local company, and the partners we stake our name on

On this island, tourism businesses come in two kinds: the ones run from an office somewhere else, and the ones argued about over Sunday lunch. We are firmly the second kind — a Fira family running the wine tours we always wished existed: small, named, honest, and driven by someone who isn't also holding the tasting notes. After enough years of writing winery recommendations on napkins for friends and guests, we made it a company.

We don't try to be everything, so for the two requests that follow wine everywhere on this island, we recommend the companies we'd send our own guests to. For days on the water: Sirigos Sailing — Fira-based, family-crewed catamarans, the finest fleet we know, and our operating partner on Wine Tasting at Sea. For engagements: Santorini Proposals, planning yeses on this island since 1996 and our design partner on Say Yes in the Vines. We recommend both by name because they've earned it — not because anyone owes anyone a favor.

How we work — the four house rules

Every winery named before you pay. No "or similar," no rotation lists. If a cellar ever closes on us unexpectedly, you hear it first, with a named swap or a refund. Eight guests, maximum. A minivan of eight is a conversation; a coach of fifty is a queue with scenery. The driver never pours; the guide never drives. Two professionals on every departure. 48-hour free cancellation, written plainly, applied without argument — island plans change, and punishing that never made anyone's vacation better.

The people you'll meet

Nikolas — traditional Santorini winemaker. Nikolas is a traditional Santorini winemaker — island-raised, canava-taught, and stubborn about the old ways: kouloura vines woven by hand, harvests timed to the fruit rather than the calendar, Vinsanto aged until it is ready and not a day sooner. He has spent his life in the island’s vineyards and cellars, writes and fact-checks the wine guide on this site, and on tour days he is the one holding the glass, not the wheel.

The guides alongside him are island-raised or island-rooted, trained on the cellars they present, and genuinely known at every door we knock on — the kind of relationships where appointment-only caves pick up the phone. The wine guide he writes is re-verified quarterly against the wineries' published information.

What we're building toward

The ambition is simple to say and slow to earn: to be the most useful wine resource on Santorini — the winery guide that answers what nobody else publishes, the tours that treat transparency as a feature, and the reviews that make the case for us. We'd rather grow on referrals than reach; it's how the best island businesses have always grown.

Our mark is the kouloura — the woven basket vine that kept this island's wine alive for centuries. It felt right.
